I use a desktop Mac. I'm not sure of its name/information, but it's extremely powerful with beautiful graphics. I've at one point had all Sims 3 expansion packs installed on it and it ran just beautifully. However I stopped playing Sims 3 on it for a long time, and just recently revisited it. The expansions I currently have on it are World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, and Seasons. I hadn't noticed any problems until I tried to create a dog. The game became extremely choppy; it was entirely unplayable. I say choppy because my mouse wasn't lagging at all, it just seemed the game itself kept freezing every couple seconds for a short period of time whenever I tried to click something or move a slider. I found myself timing it in my head, the game would freeze for 3-4 second intervals and unfreeze for about 2 seconds, and I would then try to really quickly mess with the sliders or whatever. After about 30 minutes of this I hadn't gotten very far so I just gave up. In normal CAS and in the game play itself, I face no issues. The only time the game gets like that is whenever I am in Create a Cat or Create a Dog (interestingly enough I could create a horse just fine). I've tried clearing caches, lowering the resolution and graphics as much as I can handle, updating the game and installing the recent patches, and even making sure my computer isn't running any other major programs that could be interfering with my game to no avail. I will not be installing any mods- I want to avoid installing anything else and am of the opinion that when I buy a game it should work just fine without me having to hunt down a bunch of crutches to help it function :/ Anyways, any ideas or suggestions are welcome! I think it is most perplexing that the Create a Horse works just fine, and the problem rests primarily in creating dogs or cats. Very strange, very irritating lol. Thanks in advance to those who take some time to help out :)
